Helen Lambron is a retired educator, breast cancer survivor and active volunteer/advocate with the WBCC Policy Committee. She also serves as a Gilda’s Club Madison Ambassador and as a member of the Leo Cancer Care Patient Advisory Panel for Upright Patient Positioning Radiation System, among other groups.
She believes awareness is only a beginning. Action is critical to inform, educate and legislate on early detection, treatment, and the need to be ever aware of the physical, emotional and financial impacts on the lives of those with a breast cancer diagnosis, and those who love them.
Early detection saves lives. The WBCC and NBCC in-person and virtual advocacy, combined with other conferences/symposia on cancer research, grew my need to use my voice in gratitude as a survivor and in memory of strong women in my life who did not survive (ages ranging from mid-twenties to mid-eighties) and oh so many others.
I believe we can, we MUST use our voices to educate and challenge those who legislate on state and national levels to “level” the health field: to remove health disparities and health inequities, and fund health needs.
Helen’s profile is part of an ongoing series. Visit the Meet Our Team page to read more about featured WBCC members.
