Take Action in Support of Gail’s Law!
Update: June 12, 2025
As you may know, Gail’s Law passed unanimously out of the Senate Health Committee on June 2. This is great news but it’s only the first step of many to get the bill to the Governor’s desk. The legislature is busy working on the state budget, but we hope to get a vote on this bill –THIS MONTH. Let’s get this part of the job done so we can move on to the Assembly over the summer.
We need your voices!
Please call or email your State Senator and ask them to support Gail’s Law (Senate Bill 264) by signing on as a co-sponsor and helping to move it to a floor vote this month.
If you need to find out who your senator is, go to https://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov/ and enter your voting address. You’ll be able to find your senator’s phone number and email address there.
If your senator is one of the below, please THANK THEM for their support. They have already co-sponsored the bill.

LaTonya Johnson
Brad Pfaff
Tim Carpenter
Melissa Ratcliff
Kristin Dassler-Alfheim
Kelda Roys

*Senator Patrick Testin voted for Gail’s Law in committee but has not co-sponsored it. If you live in his district, please thank him for this support and ask him to help move it to the floor for a vote.
Gail Zeamer worked for years before her passing to ensure all Wisconsin women had access to the breast exams they need. Please help us continue her work and FINISH THE JOB!

We have a bill! LRB-0466 (Gail’s Law) is now circulating for cosponsorships.
This bill will require insurers to provide cost free coverage of diagnostic breast exams and medically necessary supplemental screenings for women determined to be at high risk for developing breast cancer.
Our top priority in the state is seeing this important piece of legislation OVER the finish line this session! Gail’s Law, named for our late friend and colleague Gail Zeamer, will ensure that costs are not a barrier to breast health screenings for high risk women – those with dense breasts, or who have a strong family history or genetic mutation. For high risk women, the bill will eliminate patient cost sharing for necessary supplemental screenings – beyond mammography – using technology that is more appropriate and recommended for a high risk patient. For all women, it will also eliminate cost sharing for follow-up diagnostic tests used to evaluate an abnormality found on screening or examination.
This is what we need now: please call YOUR state senator and representative and ask them to sign on to the bill by May 8.
If your legislators are Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevara, Sen. Jesse James, Sen. LaTonya Johnson, Rep. Cindi Duchow, Rep. Amanda Nedweski, Rep. Nate Gustafson, or Rep. Lisa Subeck, please THANK THEM for being champions for the bill!

Let’s show them how important this bill is to Wisconsin women and their families with a huge first push for cosponsors.
